A Night of Carol-Singing Around Your Prelit Tree

The Joy of Carol-Singing with Family and Friends

There is no way one can ever overstate the joy of candlelit carol nights, no matter how ancient this tradition gets. In fact, we just love how caroling nights have taken on more variations over the years. While prelit trees may have successfully replaced candles, what hasn’t change is the magic. The joy and the excitement of singing “Joy to the World” and “Silent Night” at the top of the lungs remains unparalleled for most of us.

Christmas concerts and carol-singing nights are customary traditions and no season feels complete till you have experienced these, right? But since not all of us are lucky enough to sit through a Salisbury or Cathedral concert, let’s focus on how we can create some caroling magic in our own house.

Here is where your prelit tree will be the hero of the season

  1. First things first, let no other light outshine the ones from your prelit tree on the carol night. We believe nothing makes us feel the spirit and magic of the special birth at Bethlehem than twinkling starry lights. Hence, for your caroling night, place the prelit in a position where it will give off enough illumination for all the guests.
  2. Next, carol nights at home can be as fancy, casual and fun as you want it to be. So if you’re planning a more bonfire-like gathering but without a bonfire and a prelit tree instead, here’s what to do. Arrange a semi-circle seating plan around the tree by laying rugs and carpets on the floor with gigantic floor cushions for seating. Also have a buffet table at the far corner of the room so that the focus of every one remains on the tree.
  3. Try to have live instruments instead of a sound system for the caroling-night. This will sound far better when everyone is singing together.
  4. Arrange for printouts of the carols you intend to sing on the night. Also add a note with the invitation for people to carry a small torch or flashlight. This way, people will have an option for more lighting if they want a bit more illumination to read the lyrics while they sing.
  5. Do not forget the eggnog: no carol-night is every complete without it. Additionally, endless rounds of hot cocoa and coffee would also be a great idea.
  6. You can also arrange a caroling night in your backyard with a prelit tree. For this one, you would have to plug the tree outside and arrange chairs in a semi circle around it for the carolers to sit.
  7. If you want to combine the caroling night with your annual Christmas party, you can. You will only have to divide your evening into segments. Start with the carol singing once your guests gather. After that, pass on some snacks and hot beverages and conduct some games. You could serve a grand buffet dinner at the end of the night or turn it into a potluck gathering.

Have a fun-filled holiday season!
